Deep in the forest, far, far away, there was a cave where millions of bats lived.

There were bats of many colors.

There were gray bats and brown bats, black bats and red bats.

There were bats of many sizes and shapes.

There were large ones and small ones, fat ones and thin ones.

Even though the bats were different, they were happy.

Every evening, when the sun went down, the bats would fly out of the cave to look for food.

They loved to eat bugs and insects.

There were lots of bugs and insects for all the bats to eat.

The big bats would eat the big bugs and insects while the little bats would eat the little bugs and insects.

One evening, after the sun went down all the bats flew out of the cave except one big bat name Kelly.

Kelly had over slept and did not wake up on time to fly out with all the other bats. At midnight,

Kelly woke up from his sleep and found that he was alone in the cave.

He was hungry so he flew very quickly out of the cave to look for food.

Kelly looked up and he looked down. He looked near and he looked far.

He looked all over but did not find any insects or bugs to eat.

He was very hungry and very angry.

He saw all the other bats flying back into the cave and they were happy.

The bats had eaten all the insects that they wanted.

Kelly was angry and he thought, “I am big and strong so I do not have to get my own food.

I will tell all the big bats that we do not have to work hard to find food.
